welcome
to the sunshine legends tour
The Sunshine Legends Tour is the official professional tour for golfers aged 50+ in South Africa and neighbouring territories.
Re-energised, re-focused and aligned with the standards of the European Legends Tour, we are entering a new era—one that honours our great history while building a world-class, commercially powerful platform for the future of over-50s golf.
History
of the tour
The story of the Sunshine Legends Tour begins in the mid-1990s with the birth of the South African Senior Open.
Names like Simon Hobday and John Bland lit up the leaderboards, while international icons Gary Player and Lee Trevino thrilled local crowds.
A New Era for legends
A New Name. A New Standard. A New Era.
For years, South African greats have shone on senior tours around the world.
Now, with the Sunshine Legends Tour, we’re bringing that standard home. Under a refreshed structure and player-driven leadership, the Tour is being rebuilt on three pillars:
- World-class competition – iconic South African and international legends competing on top courses across the region.
- Professional governance – a reinvigorated Board and Players’ Committee focused on transparency, accountability and long-term growth.
- Sponsor value – made-for-TV moments, pro-ams, hospitality and content that deliver real return on investment.
This is not just a rebrand. It’s a reset.
